Another milestone

I have known Cheyna Brower since she was born and was thrilled to be on hand to photograph her wedding. It was a family only event and I am honored to have been included. Here are a few moments from the day. Click on the photos for a larger view.

I loved her first

My beautiful daughter, Alex, married Simon Taylor October 25, 2014. We had perfect weather for the event and an equally lovely venue, the Windwood Equestrian Center. It's hard to express the swirl of emotions a father feels when his little girl marries, so I won't even try here.
Her mother and I are very proud of the person she is, all our best wishes baby girl.

I captured Whitney and Carlo sharing a quiet smile near the fountain at Matthews Manor a few minutes after their wedding. Their joy is obvious.

Last minute details

I'm starting work on another wedding album which means I often rediscover a few shots that I'd forgotten about. It was just the three of us as Mom gave Brit's gown the finishing touches.  
It's a simple shot but it brings home again how lucky I am to be a part of so many of these moments.

Warmth

I'm blessed to have been the wedding photographer for Brittain and Barry yesterday, these are two of the more pleasant people I have ever met. They are perfectly suited for each other! This shot caught my eye as I was loading the files into my computer and I wanted to share it right away.

Day Dreaming

Krista and Chris share a tender moment in Jemison Park in Mountain Brook. Their wedding is in July and they seem a perfect match. I'm always grateful to be a part of a couples launch into a new life.

I love digital photography but I do miss film grain sometimes, especially in black and white... luckily technology allows us to add it when we want to. Click on the photo for a larger view.

Today would have been my parents wedding anniversary, it's the first year that I don't have either of them to celebrate the occasion. If you are still able to call your parents, do it.

Meet Britain, a new bridal client. She and her intended, Barry, braved the first chilly day of the season for their engagement session... an early morning shiver through the Botanical Gardens. Though they were in clothing better suited to August rather than late October, neither uttered a single complaint. As is the usual case, here's a shot that caught my eye while editing the session. I'll post a few more pix with both of them in a day or two.

I know... I've been terrible about posting this year... but here's quick sample from an engagement shoot yesterday. We had a laugh filled session as we explored the autumn colors at Birmingham's Botanical Gardens. Their wedding is next May so we'll have a beautiful spring palette to complement their fall engagement photos.

The first shot is Samantha looking at the valley that leads to a beautiful horse barn and to the lake just beyond. The next is a quiet moment just before running the gauntlet of well wishers and jumping into their power boat to speed away across Lake Martin to their honeymoon.
